Rossmund golf news

The annual contested Pink Golf Ball Competition was played at the Rossmund Golf Course in excellent golfing conditions, sponsored by Medixx Occupational Health Services on 3 December.

A field of 16 teams took on this interesting format of foursomes. The aim of the day was to enjoy being out on the course and to have some fun. To the sounds of “oh my goodness”, “sorry partner”, “I’ve never been over there before”; “where’s that mulligan”; why did I choose to play with my wife” - the teams made their way back to the 19th Hole. Surprisingly enough only three pink balls were lost, one being found by another team and returned to the officials. Scores were checked and double checked – whilst the golfers were given the once over to decide who were the pinkest pairs – oh, my gosh so many shades of pink!!

Finally we were ready to go with Vice Captain – Mark Jacobs in charge ably assisted by Dr.Bertie Saunderson on behalf of the sponsor. The prize for the Most Golf was won by Father and Son Team Robberts, playing in their first official competition. The Pinkest Ladies Team was Mariena Ludwig and Tiekie De Wet whilst by the Men - Chris Magson and Steven Johns came out on top. Overall Winners were Clive Lawrence and Mark Jacobs 51pts; 2nd Place: Pete Bergh and Bruce Burns 48pts; 3rd Place: Bertie Saunderson and Achmet Abrahams 45pts; 4th Place: Warren Theron and Eddy van Wyk 43pts c/o. Our sincere thanks again to the sponsor Medixx who pledged to be back again in 2023.

We played our final official competition for 2022 which was well supported as always. The sponsor on the day was Thovo Therm/ Tomy Zwar – who had a few words to say and confirmed that he will be sponsoring again in 2023.

Tony Boesch rang the bell for his birthday and treated everyone present to a small something. As per usual on a Wednesday prize giving brought in the buzz and a few laughs. Lynne took the opportunity to thank all the sponsors for 2022 - SSS-Engen; Family Engling; Family Horne; Thovo Therm; Advertising Displays ; Proshop; Prestige Accounting ; Safe Wear Namibia ; Rossmund Clubhouse Kitchen; Family von Klitzing; Namibia Tours & Safaris; Williams and Knight; Coastal Hire and Puma Chemicals.

Rossmund Golf Club looks forward to doing business with all these sponsors again in the New Year. For those who like to understand the figures - an amount of approximately N$28 000 was raised on a Wednesday for the CLUB through entry fees. Well done and thanks for the ongoing support.

The winners on the day were: 18 Holes: Johan Kok with an excellent 43pts – he said it was just one of those fantastic days; the Best Front 9 went to Athol Mclean 22pts; Best Back 9 was birthday boy Tony Boesch winning a count out on 19pts over Harry Botha; Nearest to the Pins on Number 7 and Number 12 were Mark Jacobs and Tony Boesch; Peter Bass unfortunately played the Most Golf – exactly opposite of last week – hey that’s golf.
