Mentally unstable patient goes missing

The family of Michel Haufiku (63) is looking for him.

Haufiku was wearing a short sleeved multi coloured shirt, a black long trouser, with blue sandals the last time he was seen. He is 1,68m tall, brown eyes and dark brown in complexion. He has black curly hair and only speaks Otjiherero.

Haufiku who hails from Arandis is said to be mentally unstable. He was brought by his brother to Swakopmund State hospital and was admitted at the facility on 21 January 2023.

When his brother returned to visit him on 24 January, he was informed by the staff that his brother was already released from the hospital on 23 January 2023 in the morning.

The staff did not notify the brother before discharging Haufiku and he has not been seen by family or any of his friends since. The police and community members searched for him in and around Swakopmund and Arandis without success.
