Andeline Wieland; Contestant; “Reaching the top ten is not too shabby and I received six roses too!”

If anything, it has been enchanting to watch on M-Net’s second season of the reality show The Bachelor, especially thanks to local beauty queen Andeline Wieland.

Gorgeous red head Andeline was eliminated from the running of winning the affections of heartthrob Marc Buckner, during last week’s episode of the popular dating reality show.

She shared with Erongo her experiences of the show.

To begin with Swakopmund’s sweetheart and Miss Namibia 2016 runner up Andeline, thanked her fans for their words of encouragement and for their support over for the last seven weeks of the show.

“I learned a lot about myself along the way and did what I always do in life. I gave it my all and therefore I don't regret anything. Reaching the top ten is not too shabby and I received six roses too! This one's especially for you, Namibia!” she said on her Facebook page.

Despite not making a meaningful connection with Buckner, the 24-year-old said she don’t feel that her time was wasted. She regards the time she spent on the show as something positive and as an eye-opener.

“I may not have found love with Marc. However, I did learn that I was braver and more in tune with myself than I could have ever thought. I realized whilst sitting in that house, what my values are and have no issues with politely declining or avoiding conversations that I just don’t see going anywhere.”

According to Andeline, this may have been perceived as cold.

“I also made some amazing friends in the process. My experience on the show was unlike anything I have done before. Baring your soul and being to all of the world to find love was not easy, and despite people knowing that it is a reality television show, many people especially on Twitter, had very derogatory things to say.”

She said she learnt to ignore the nasty comments and cautioned that people should remember that the women in the show are real and not scripted characters.

In addition to opening up about being on the show, Andeline also shared some highlights of her time in The Bachelor mansion.

“A definite highlight was being able to show off my artistic talent during the talent show. I am a qualified actress, singer and dancer but very few people know about my art skills, so that was really awesome.”

She said that being cheered on by the other girls to get her man after Nolo broke their pact in episode four, was another highlight.

“Finally, being able to do the hair, make up and accessory styling for some of the girls in the house also stood out for me. I love making people beautiful and I was so proud of the work I had done.”

Catch The Bachelor South Africa season 2 on M-Net every Thursday at 19:00.
