Walvis Bay container terminal on the move
The Namibian Ports Authority welcomed the Top Elegance and Maersk Sofia on Friday and Saturday respectively.Both vessels are not new to the Port of Walvis Bay.
The 189.89m Top Elegance docked on 12 October after a one-month voyage originating from Port Longkou, China. The general cargo vessel discharged 8 330 tonnes of mining equipment for local and Zambian mines, and is expected to depart from Walvis Bay on 22 October heading to Luanda.
The 335m Maersk Sofia docked at the New Container Terminal on 13 October 2021 after arriving from Port Luanda, Angola, under the flag of Singapore. A total of 1 172 moves were handled on the vessel (152 containers loaded and 1 020 discharged). The vessel departed for the Port of Singapore later in the day.
The following container vessels are scheduled to call at the Port of Walvis Bay in the coming days: Northern Jupiter (333m) on 20 October, Kyparissia (255m) on 21 October and Eleni T (261m) on 22 October. Green Mountain (200m), a multipurpose vessel, and Maria Da Paz (101m), a general cargo vessel, will call on 25 October.
