Twee maande sedert Namibië se immuniseringsveldtog teen Covid-19 afgeskop het, het nog net 2,4% van die land se totale bevolking 'n eerste dosis entstof ontvang.

Beskikbaarheid van entstowwe speel 'n rol, maar volgens aanvank­like mikpunte wou owerhede teen einde Augustus 'n halfmiljoen mense inent.

Om die doelwit te bereik, sal gemiddeld 4 400 persone per dag nou ingeënt moet word.

Tot dusver is die nasionale gemiddeld per dag minder as 3 000.

Die totaal het teen gister op 63 037 gestaan, met 6 222 persone wat ook reeds 'n tweede dosis entstof ontvang het.

In Suid-Afrika is verlede week in sekere provinsies amptelik 'n derde golf van die pandemie bevestig. Sekere inperkingsmaatreëls in die buurland is opnuut strenger gemaak.

In Namibië neem alle aanduiders van 'n derde golf ook toe.

Gister is nog 225 nuwe gevalle aangekondig, wat beteken gemiddeld word sowat 250 nuwe gevalle nou daagliks aangemeld; gemiddeld 100 daarvan in Windhoek.

Die syfers is die hoogste sedert die tweede golf in Desember en Januarie.

In Mei is 112 sterftes reeds direk of indirek aan die virus toegeskryf. Dit verteenwoordig tot op 24 Mei 'n daaglikse, gemiddelde sterftesyfer van 4,7.

Ons grafika wys die syfer, gemeet oor sewe dae, is digby die kruin van die tweede golf.

Meer oues positief

Die sterftesyfer het sedert Februarie aanhou styg, al bly dit laer as in vele van die swaar getrefde lande in die wêreld.

Persone wat 60 jaar en ouer is, maak ook toenemend 'n groter persentasie van nuwe gevalle uit.

Dié koers was verskeie kere die afgelope week meer as 17%, wat beteken byna twee uit elke vyf van nuwe gevalle is bejaardes; mense wat 'n groter risiko as ander loop.

Vandag se grafika wys die aantal persone wat in elke streek teen Sondag 'n eerste dosis entstof ontvang het, asook die persentasie van daardie streek se totale bevolking wat 'n eerste tree vir immunisering gegee het.

In die Khomasstreek staan die syfer digby 5%, oftewel 5 uit elke 100 inwoners.

Internasionale kundiges reken uiteindelik sal tussen 70% en 85% van bevolkings geïmmuniseer moet word om kuddebeskerming te verseker. Vir gewone griep is die syfer tussen 33% en 44%.

Die uitrol van die veldtog na die Noorde van die land, waar die meeste mense woon, toon merkbaar minder sukses.

Skaars 1% van inwoners van die Zambezistreek het 'n eerste dosis entstof ontvang en koerse in die sogenaamde vier O-streke (Ohangwena, Omusati, Oshana, Oshikoto) is deur die bank laer as 2%.

Volgens beskikbare data is die volgende syfers die afgeronde maksimum inentingsyfers per streek per dag:

Khomas 1 200, Ohangwena 500, Erongo 400, Otjozondjupa 350, Kavango-Oos 300, ||Kharas 300, Hardap 200, Kavango-Wes 200, Kunene 200, Omusati 200, Oshana 200, Omaheke 100, Oshikoto 100, Zambezi 70.

Die huidige regulasies in Namibië verstryk op 31 Mei.
