Vet pret by ‘Olimpiese Spele’

Die sesde jaarlikse Coca-Cola Dome Olimpiese Spele het gister op die kusdorp plaasgevind met 13 spanne bestaande uit ses spanlede elk, wat deelgeneem het.

All Skin No Skill spog vanjaar met die eerste plek ná hulle slegs 27.44 minute geneem het om al tien hindernisse te voltooi. SE Beauty & SE Beasts het die tweede plak opgeraap met ’n algehele tyd van 28 minute en 26 sekondes.

Weimann’s Carpentry, wat die afgelope vier jaar koning gekraai het, sou met ’n vyfde oorwinning uitgetree het, maar moes hulle vanjaar tevrede wees met ’n derde plek.

“Die sportsoorte wat by The Dome aangebied word asook ’n paar ontspanningsaktiwiteite wat meer dinkwerk en spankoördinasie verg, was deel uit van die uitdaging,” het die direkteur van Connect People to People, Buttons Heyns, gesê.

Die kompetisie verg ’n kombinasie van breinkrag, spierkrag en mannekrag, met hindernisse wat gimnastiek asook binnemuurse- en rolskaatshokkie ingesluit het.

High Roller was een van die hindernisse wat baie geduld geverg het. Deelnemers het ’n krom plank gekry waarop hulle ’n tafeltennisbal moes balanseer. Die plank is dan van een persoon na die volgende aangee – iets wat baie koördinasie geverg het, veral as jy ’n paar keer moes oorbegin!

Nog ’n uitdaging was Quads, met vier spanlede wie se voete op twee planke vasgemaak is en ’n tou wat gebruik om die regte voet te lig. Die vier spanlede moes dan saam-saam om die baan loop. As jy misluk, moet jy oorbegin, iets wat vinnig tyd opgevreet het.

Die tye vir al tien individuele aktiwiteite is saamgetel om ’n algehele tyd te bepaal.

By die afsluiting van die Olimpiese Spele, het Dave Hammond organiserings komitee gesê dié geleentheid was die meeste pret wat hy nóg gehad het sonder om deel te neem. Hy het Coca-Cola vir hul borgskap bedank en The Dome vir die venue.
