Award-winning recording artists Vaughn Ahrens and KP Illest, have released the music video for their recently recorded collaboration, “We have tonight”.

Ahrens is the 2018 NAMAs (Namibia Annual Music Awards) winner for the best Afrikaans category while KP Illest’s (real name Kamaaizemi Hoveka) biggest win came last year, when he scooped the NAMAs best male artist of the year accolade.

The music video, which is less than a week old, is available to be streamed on Ahrens’ YouTube channel and currently has over 1 200 streams.

“After meeting at the NAMAs in 2018, KP and I really wanted to work together and got together a few times to hang out and discuss some ideas. The song was born late last year during a writing session, where KP and I WhatsApped each other ideas at 2 in the morning,” Ahrens said, who – apart from his captivating voice – is also known for his amazing guitar playing skills.

The video was directed by Bennie Boshoff of Nuka Nuka Productions.

In the video, there are two main scenes: In the first the two artists galavant in the streets on Windhoek at night as they sing, while in the second scene Ahrens’ band joins them in an all-round well-produced and edited video.

The song was produced by Vaughn Ahrens, while the mixing and mastering was done by Adam Brandon-Kirby.

It is mellow soothing song, easy on the ear and the two artists blended well over the course of the four-minute jam.

“Appreciated working with Vaughn, what an artist!” KP Illest said, who also won the NAMA for best rap/hip hop in 2018.

Ahrens, who is also radio DJ and while looking forward to his endeavors as a new coach for Chalk Gymnastics Club, had a relatively busy April.

The “Man van goud” (“Man of gold”) hitmaker recently had a one-man gig at the Goethe-Institut in Windhoek. Thereafter he performed at Sound Garden in Swakopmund, before entertaining the at the Showgrounds in Windhoek on 23 and 23 April. His final performance in April was on the 30th, at the Wolfshack in Windhoek.

With “We have the night” still fresh in their minds, fans are yearning for even more new music from Vaughn Ahrens; thankfully they will not have to wait too long, as he has revealed that he will release a 13-track album, Here lies Vaughn Ahrens, at the end of the year.
