The Bank Windhoek festive competition was held at the end of last year and despite concerns, 25 teams entered the event played over two days.

After the first day it was Quinton van Wyk and Anton van Rensburg who were leading the field on a staggering 50 points, with a few following on 47’s and 46’s.

Alas they were not able to emulate another 50, but a good 44 points was enough to see them win the event on 94 points.

The best round on the second day was also 50 points by Wayne Hart and Shane Westerdale.

Second place went to Herman and Maryke Neethling on 91 points winning the count out from Jaans Stander and Pieter Fox.

Fourth place on 90 points went to Wayne and Shane.

Most golf was won by the handsome pairing of Duane Saunders and Jason Barnard who gladly accepted the traditional pot.

All teams won prizes and thanks to Jaans for handing out these at the prize giving.

John Gomes was present last week at the members draw and walked away with N$ 500. Remember you just have to be there to win the 500 bucks up for grabs each week.

The Joker’s N$ 50 000 guaranteed for the 20th December as well as the N$ 54 200 last week went begging as Pieter Fox and Brenda Borges drew the 9 of hearts and 3 of hearts respectively. Thus the JOKER lives on to tell the tale.

It could hit N$ 60 000 this weekend so get a ticket to have a chance.

There are only 24 cards and the Joker left in the deck and things are hotting up. N$ 60 000 is not to be sniffed at. Jaco Roberts won the 500 bucks JOKER PLUS for December.

This weekend is the opening of the season and as now has become tradition it will be opened with the Committee vs The Members competition.

Contrary to an early report, it was the Members who won last year. The Committee [Carlos and Andre] have been bold and have been heard saying that they will take a serious revenge and win by at least 6 points this weekend. The members gladly accept the challenge.

The Committee will wear red and the Members should all wear blue.

I know everybody wants an easy Committee member to play against but Andre has been booked out long in advance. So you need to pick one of the others. The list is on the board go and check. If you don’t get to play against a committee member in your 4 ball, one will be allocated to you and so all games will count.

The events for the next few weeks are as follows
11 January - Committee vs Members individual stable ford
18 January - Club Pairs, 27 holes 9x4somes, 9x better ball and 9x combined
25 January - Walvis Bay Open over two days and 18 holes each day of medal
1 February – Dulux Pairs first round and also Windhoek Lager International pairs

Work continues on the course. Thanks is in order to Jason, Nardo, Hannes and Schalk who have put in many hours to repair the greens and aprons.

All members are reminded that subs were due by the end of September. Those who have not paid by the 14th January, will be suspended on the system. There will be no exceptions all have been warned so please react soonest. Contact Carlos if there are issues.

Also all members are reminded that you have 24 hours to enter your score after a round, failing which you will get a penalty round.

Any member not opening a round and thus not entering a score, will bear the results. This will not be pleasant. It is the right thing to do, so just do it. There will be no further warnings, all members have now received a final warning.
