Tuiskwarantyn aan kus ’n opsie

Die ministerie van gesondheid en maatskaplike dienste (MoHSS) gaan meer buigsaam wees in die kwarantyn van kontakte van bevestigde Covid-19-gevalle in die Erongostreek. Dit sluit tuisgebaseerde kwarantyn in veilige toestande in private geriewe in.

Volgens die minister, dr. Kalumbi Shangula, is die buigsaamheid beperk tot Swakopmund, Arandis en Walvisbaai.

Die isolasie van positiewe Covid-19-gevalle vir die Erongostreek moet in terme van ligging op so ’n manier gedoen word dat dit nie enige skade aan die betrokke gemeenskap berokken of daarheen bring nie.

Volgens Shangula kan dit alternatiewe en private geriewe insluit.

Met verwysing na kwarantyn sal die ministerie ook in die kwarantyn van kontakte meer buigsaam wees. Ook in dié geval mag die geriewe nie enige skade aan die betrokke gemeenskap bring of dit berokken nie.

Dié buigsame geriewe mag volgens die noodtoestandregulasies tuisgebaseerde kwarantyn insluit, sou veilige toestande hiervoor vasgestel en teen ’n standaard kontrolelys geverifieer kan word.

Met verwysing na ouetehuise in die Erongostreek word van versorgers wat hier in diens is, vereis om te selfkwarantyn by alternatiewe liggings en om kontak met die algemene gemeenskap te vermy.

Walvisbaai het teen gisteroggend 54 nuwe gevalle van Covid-19 aangemeld. Dit bring die totaal vir die land teen gisteroggend op 359 te staan. Uit die 54 nuwe gevalle is 35 vroue en 19 mans. Die jongste is vyf jaar oud en die oudste 60.

Intussen is ’n Namibiese vragmotorbestuurder wat in Botswana positief getoets het, in isolasiegeriewe op Gobabis opgeneem. Hy is in Botswana onderweg van Suid-Afrika getoets en word daarom onder die buurland se aantal gevalle getel. –
