Truck overturns on B2

A 39-year-old man died in a motor vehicle accident that occurred on the B2 road between Usakos and Arandis.

Deputy commissioner Erastus Iikuyu, regional crime investigations coordinator, confirmed the accident happened on Saturday at about 22:57.

He said that a Volvo truck with two trailers carrying acid bags, with a 39-year-old Namibian male driver being the only occupant, was travelling on the B2 from Usakos towards Arandis.

“The driver lost control over the truck in a curve and it overturned. The driver was stuck in the truck and he passed away on the spot. The accident took place approximately five kilometres from Arandis.”

The deceased was employed by Coleman Transport.

His body was taken to Swakopmund state hospital mortuary for death certification and further handling.

His next of kin have not been informed yet and the investigation continues.
