Tragedy in Okombahe

A shack fire claimed the life of an elderly woman and her grandson in Okombahe.

Inspector Ileni Shapumba, the unit commander for community affairs in the Erongo region confirmed the incident. .

Shapumba said that a zinc house caught fire at around 23:50 on Friday evening, with the owner Tsamases Theresia (88) and her grandson Khaniseb Benhard Nadile Prince, (3 years and 8months old) trapped inside.

“The neighbours reportedly tried to rescue the victims but they could not manage as the flames were too intense and sadly the victims burned to death. The house was completely destroyed. The cause of fire is still unknown."

The next of kin of the deceased persons were informed and the bodies were taken to Okombahe State clinic mortuary for further handling.
