Top Cheri; Artist; “It’s just a joke. You guys are too serious!”

Singer Top Cheri dispelled the word on the street that she and Manxebe are an official item on her Instagram account in a video she posted.

A well-known online publication earlier published that the Walvis Bay-raised award-winning recording artist, whose real name in Monica Pinias, and new kwaito kid on the block, Manxebe (real name Landinus Vaino) were hitting it off, after a photo of the two laying together on a bed surfaced and went viral.

Another daily newspaper published a story with the headline Top Cheri “caught in bed” with Manxebe.

However, Top Cheri made it clear that the photo, which shows her laying on Manxebe’s chest, was just part of a photo shoot for an album which the two are collaborating on.

“Hi, this is a behind the scenes shot of a photo shoot we did for our album cover,” Top Cheri said in the video.

The “Calling heaven” hitmaker went on to show the entire crew that was with them behind the scenes to prove that she was not alone with Manxebe in the room. “It’s just a joke. You guys are too serious!” she laughed.

She confirmed that it was just a prank, a marketing gimmick, and that they sent the photos that trended on Twitter, themselves.

In the same telephonic interview she said that using the correct marketing strategy usually reaches corporates’ attention.

“The reason I am an ambassador for so many companies, is because I mostly come up with my own marketing strategies. That is why corporates endorse me. They know the numbers I have at my disposal and the mileage I can provide. If I am to market something for them, whether it is directly or indirectly, they know what the Top Cheri brand is all about,” she said.

Top Cheri and Manxebe are set to release a joint album, Ghetto love on 7 May.

The two are planning to do an album tour in two towns in the Erongo region, in that time. They will entertain Arandis on 7 May, while Walvis Bay will be their next destination on 8 May. However, she was tight-lipped about details concerning the album.

Monica Pinias won two awards at the 2019 NAMAs (Namibia Annual Music Awards). This includes the best newcomer and album of the year awards.

Manxebe made waves with his debut album, The rebirth of kwaito, last year, dropping hits like “Vuma” and “Ano Olye” (meaning – “who is it?” in Oshiwambo).
