Die Nasionale Teater van Namibië (NTN) pak die konsep van identiteit aan van veral Kleurlinge en Basters in die nuwe produksie ‘The Tone of Representation’.

“Hierdie verhoogstuk beklemtoon die kontemporêre ‘kallid’-ervaring in Namibië,” sê die NTN se skakelbeampte, Desiree Mentor.

“Dit is ’n stuk oor gemeenskappe, ontvlugting en uitdrukking, wat die hoogte- en laagtepunte van diegene wat ‘in die middel voel’, verken,” sê sy.

“Die teaterstuk strewe ook daarna om die narratief rondom identiteit en verteenwoording in hedendaagse Namibiese vertelkuns uit te beeld,” voeg sy by.

Bekroonde aktrise Lize Ehlers vertolk die rol van Sus terwyl sy ook die skoene van skrywer en regisseur volstaan. Aan haar sy is Adriano Visagie as Boet, terwyl Rodelio Lewis en Roberto Menneguzzo die drag queens Mavis en Gigi speel.

Plaaslike musikant Imms Nicolau lewer ondersteuning deur sy musiek.

Volgens Mentor het die proses vanaf Ehlers se verbeelding tot op die planke nie sommer net gebeur nie.

“Die produksie is nou al twee keer wens die pandemie herskeduleer. Maar ons wil aangaan en dus het ons besluit om dit aanlyn uit te saai.”

Die publiek kan op 18 Augustus om 18:00 op die NTN se Facebook-blad aansluit vir ’n praatjie met die akteurs en regisseur.
