Swiss national robbed at knifepoint in capital

A Swiss national (52) was robbed at knifepoint in Windhoek city just after 17:00 on 31 December. The suspect stole two bags, two mobile phones and N$4 000 cash, as well as credit cards and travel documents. No one was arrested yet.

In the meantime, three suspected robbers are still on the run after robbing a home in Windhoek’s Rocky Crest suburb of N$55 300 worth of items on Old Year’s Day. It is alleged the suspects found the house open while the occupants were in the living room. They held the woman at gunpoint and beat up her boyfriend before stealing two laptops, four mobile phones, a TV, and a sound box. The boyfriend was admitted to hospital for his injuries. Nothing has been recovered yet.

A Red Toyota Paseo was robbed from a 20-year-old woman at Square Mall at Ondangwa on the morning of 1 January. It is alleged she was parking her car, worth about N$57 000, when five suspects approached her; one opening the driver’s door before dragging her out of her car. They drove away with her car, but a short while later, the vehicle was discovered overturned on the Oshikango road. The suspect fled. No one was arrested yet.

Furthermore, the police also reported about burglars that broke into the house of a doctor at Ongwediva early morning on New Year’s Day, while she was sleeping.
The suspects allegedly broke through a window and got away with N$34 500 worth of household items that included two TVs, two mobile phones, a laptop and N$1 800 cash. No one was arrested yet.
