The German Embassy has undertaken to support the Georg Ludwig Kindergarten in Swakopmund with €4 700.
The money, equivalent to around N$91 000, is to be used to finance 16 kindergarten children.
“This will enable children whose families are in acute financial difficulties due to the effects of Covid-19, to continue attending kindergarten,” the embassy said.
“The Federal Foreign Office is assisting German parishes and their members worldwide to deal with the pandemic,” the embassy’s Ellen Gölz said.
“With the support provided in Swakopmund, the kindergarten can continue to fulfil its childcare task.”
Pastor Klaus-Peter Tietz and kindergarten manager Simone Bock, thanked the embassy for the donation, emphasising the importance of early childhood development and a stable social environment for the emotional development of children.
