Crime Report

A 34-year-old man committed suicide in Omaruru.

According to the Erongo police regional commander for community affairs, inspector Ileni Shapumba, the body of the deceased was discovered on Sunday at 09:00 hanging from a tree in the riverbed at the farm Kakombo, 3km from Omaruru towards Kalkfeld.

The deceased was identified as Ananias Gaeseb. Investigations revealed that he had worked for the K-9 Security Company at Karibib but resigned a week ago. “No suicide note was found on the deceased. No foul play is suspected and his next of kin has been informed.”

Accident

Only serious injuries were reported after an accident on the B2 road between Walvis Bay and Swakopmund on Saturday.

According to Shapumba, the driver of a Mazda vehicle (travelling from Swakopmund to Walvis Bay) with four occupants including the driver, allegedly overtook at a blind spot and collided sideways with a Nissan Note travelling in the same direction.

“The Mazda also hit an oncoming Mercedes-Benz bus while overtaking the Nissan Note. There were seven on-duty members of the Namibia Defence Force in the bus. One of the passengers from the Mazda sustained serious injuries and was admitted to Walvis Bay state hospital.”

The vehicles were badly damaged in the incident.
