Sparta II the team to beat in Coastal T10 cricket league

Sparta Cricket Club II leads the race with 8 points after registering 4 wins from 4 matches.

(PEOPBCC) II defeated the Junior Coastal Cricket Academy (JCCA) with 8 wickets in a Coastal T10 Cricket League match played at the Pro-Ed grounds on Sunday. PEOBCC II won the toss and elected to bowl first. JCCA scored 75 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in their allotted 10 overs. PEOPBCC scored 76 runs for the loss of 2 wickets in 5.5 overs. Roelof van Niekerk was the best batsman for JCCA. He scored 44 runs (including two 4’s and five 6’s) from 29 balls. Kyle Saunders was the best bowler for PEOPBCC II. He took 2 wickets for 4 rubs in 2 overs. Jaco Duven Hage was the top run scorer for PEOBCCII. He scored 37 runs (including five 4’s and two 6’s) from 13 balls. This performance earned him the man of the match award. Roelof van Niekerk (9 runs for 2 overs) and William Lottering (10 runs for 1 over) each took one wicket for JCCA.

Second match

Sparta Cricket Club II defeated Blue Water I with 10 wickets in a match played at the Walvis Bay Oval. Blue Waters I won the toss, elected to bat first and scored 86 runs for the loss of 2 wickets in their allotted 10 overs. Sparta II scored 89 runs without the loss of a wicket in 6.1 overs. Walter Fokkens was the top batsman for Blue Waters I with 41 runs (including three 4’s and three 6’s) from 22 balls. Zhivago Groenewald also added 22 runs (including one 4 and two 6’s) from 9 balls. Robbie Berg was the top performing bowler for Sparta II. Het took 2 wickets for 10 runs in 2 overs. David Fortuin was the top performer with the bat for Sparta II. He scored 56 runs (including three 4’s and six 6’s) from 23 balls. This performance earned him the man of the match award. Simon Cilliers also added 33 runs (including one 4 and four 6’s) from 23 balls. John-Eric Tierrauch was the most economical bowler for Blue Waters I. He bowled 2 overs and gave away 13 runs.

Third match

Blue Waters forfeited their match against PEOBCCI scheduled to be played at the Pro-Ed grounds in Swakopmund.

Fourth match

Sparta Cricket Club II defeated JCCA with 9 wickets. Sparta II won the toss, elected to bowl first. JCCA scored 76 runs for the loss 8 wickets in their allotted 10 overs. Sparta II scored 82 runs for the loss of 1 wicket in 5.2 overs. Chris Fourie (snr) was the best batsman for JCCA with 30 runs (including one 4 and three 6’s) from 18 balls. Johan Potgieter was in commanding form with the ball. He took 4 wickets for 13 runs in 2 overs. This superb bowling performance, earned him the man of the math award. Ricardo Von Stein also took 2 wickets for 1 run in 1 over. Gerrie Snyman was the best batsman for Sparta II. He scored 42 runs (including two 4’s and five 6’s) from 2 balls. William Lottering was the most economical bowler for JCCA with 11 runs from 2 overs.

21 November: Sparta I vs Sparta II at Sparta Recreational Club grounds in Walvis Bay, Blue Waters I vs Blue Waters II at the Walvis Bay Oval and PEOBCCI vs PEOBCC II at the Pro-Ed grounds in Swakopmund. All these matches start at 11:00. PEOBCC I versus Sparta at the PRO-Ed grounds. This match starts at 14:00.
