Sorgeenheid sien om na eie mense

Wanneer die uur van verlange vir verswakte bejaardes in die Kersseisoen van 2016 op Hentiesbaai aanbreek, sal die hand van vertroosting en versorging deur die dorp se eie mense op hul skouers lê. Die tydperk van vrede en vreugde word ook in die Sorgeenheid aan verswakte senior burgers gegun.

Die koms , diens en vordering van die Hentiesbaaise Sorgeenheid is deur die voorsitter, me. Kobie van der Walt, met Erongo gedeel. Op 17 Augustus 2004 is die Sorgeenheid gestig deur 14 mense wat omgee. Die uitsluitende doel was die algehele versorging van verswakte bejaardes op ‘n oord wat deur baie lede van ‘n baanbrekersgeslag as aftreeplek aanvaar is en gebruik word.

Kobie vertel aan Erongo wat reeds in die eerste twaalf jaar bereik is. As geregistreerde Welsynsorganisasie is ‘n siekeboeg gebou en toegerus. Vandag is dit die blyplek van 24 verswakte bejaardes. Onder hulle is daar mense wat permanent daar versorg word, bejaardes wat ná operasies aansterk en mense wat vir ‘n dag of enkele dae bystand nodig het wanneer hul eie lewensmaat, versorger of metgesel ander verpligtinge moet nakom. In gevalle word tuisversorging ook gedoen. Mense wat nie so siek is nie, maar nie alleen by die huis kan bly nie, kry ook hier ‘n heenkome. Daar word selfs omgegee vir besoekers en vakansiegangers wat hulp nodig het.

Volgens haar word die hele dorp se mense bedien. ’n Noodnommer bestaan wat enige tyd geskakel kan word vir hulp of met inligting oor siekte en selfs die dood. Deur die loop van die dag is die sorgeenheid oop vir ondersoeke en toetse en ander dienste deur ‘n verpleegkundige.

Een van die grootste uitdagings van die Sorgeenheid die afgelope jare was die installering van ‘n hysbak van die grond- na die eerste verdieping. Dit was ‘n geloofsdaad, maar dit is volbring.

Sy gesels ook maklik oor toekomsplanne. Hoog op die sakelys is die aanstelling van nog ‘n verpleegkundige sodat die behoeftes van Hentiesbaai se verswakte bejaardes deurlopend gemonitor kan word en ‘n deurlopende ondersteuningsdiens gelewer kan word. Al die kamers moet volledig met gespesialiseerde geriewe toegerus word wat vir goeie dienslewering nodig is. Die gemeenskap self moet opgelei word in ‘n gemeenskapsgebaseerde versorgings- en ondersteuningsdiens. Indien ‘n toekomsbehoefte dit uitwys, moet ‘n uitbreiding van die Sorgeenheid oorweeg word.

Dan brei Kobie uit oor die bystand wat aan die Sorgeenheid gegee kan word. ‘n Inwoner kan aangeneem word. Waarmee bedoel word dat iemand identifiseer kan word saam met wie ‘n tydjie deurgebring kan word. Middagetes word deur ‘n buiteinstansie verskaf, maar oggend- en aandetes word in die sentrum voorberei. Dit staan lede van die gemeenskap vry om met voorstelle oor ligte aandetes te kom. Resepte kan gedeel word en betanddele kan geskenk word. Afstande en ander faktore kan welmenendes buite fisiese bereik plaas, maar selfs dan kan hulp verleen word deur ‘n behoeftige en verswakte senior burger te borg of toerusting te koop. Daar kan selfs gespesifiseer word waarvoor hulp aangewend moet word. Namibiërs, Heniesbaaiers in die besonder, kan help met selfs klein maandelikse bydraes. Sodanige bydraes kan regstreeks in die rekening van die Sorgeenheid inbetaal word.

Oor die konstitusionele doelstellinge van die Sorgeenheid beklemtoon Kobie dit is om die behoeftes van die verswakte inwoners te bepaal. Binne die gemeenskap moet die die sosiale, gesondheids- en ander behoeftes van die gemeenskap uitgeken word. Waar nodig, moet daar dan verwysings na gespesialiseerde dienste wees. ‘n Groter gemeenskapsbetrokkenheid word deurlopend nagestreef. Uit die sosiale interaksie kan versorging en ‘n ondersteuningsdiens spruit. Die gemeenskap moet opgelei word om ‘n bekostigbare gemeenskapsorg- en ondersteuningsdiens aan hulpbehoewende mense te lewer.

Die Sorgeenheid behoort nie net aan Hentiesbaaiers nie. Kobie sê dit staan enigiemand vry om te kom kyk wat gedoen word en selfs ‘n bietjie te kuier.
