Well-known South African socialite Somizi Mhlongo (48) recently made a visit to Namibia’s harbour town to make a cameo performance.

He took to social media to announce his appearance in Walvis Bay.

“Touch down in the Land of the Brave. Me and Namibia have something in common - bravery,” Somizi posted on his Instagram account.

He told his fans to catch him at Steakhouse, where he performed.

During his post, Somizi stayed true to his reputation of always being fashionable, wearing attire from Gucci along with Louis Vuitton bags.

“Wow! You are wearing clothes worth N$300 000,” posted one fan, Motheo Ngwezi.

Somizi’s legion of local fans welcomed him with open arms on Instagram.

“[You are] most welcome to our land of the brave. May your stay be pleasant and memorable. Enjoy [it],” posted Stefanie Cornelius-Stramis.

Another fan sent Somizi a lot of love, while others joked about how they would finally see someone wearing original clothing brands.

“Not only are you my fav human, but you went to my home country,” she posted.

While visiting, Somizi also did a photoshoot in the dunes near Swakopmund, where he shared his admiration, saying it was one of the best locations he has ever been.

“It is the first time for me in Namibian dunes. I can proudly and boldly say that it’s either we are modest or humble or underestimate our African treasures because wow, these are way better than Dubai’s! Dubai’s dunes are awesome, but Namibia’s are way better,” Somizi posted.

The entertainer is a former SA Idols judge.

Also known as “Somgaga”, the entertainment wiz is known for appearing in the 1992 South African feature film, Sarafina! playing a character known as “Fire”. Apart from his role in the blockbuster, Somizi is well known for being a choreographer, having provided the choreography for the opening and closing ceremony for the 2010 FIFA World Cup as well as the CAF African Cup of Nations.

The radio DJ and master of ceremonies also has a reality television show on Mzansi Magic, Living the Dream with Somizi.
