Swakopmund-based rapper Faith Samaseb (26), better known as Smartboy, recently completed the shooting of the music video for his song, “No Lie”, which also features 2011 Namibia Annual Music Awards Male Artist of the Year Jericho Gawanab (aka Jericho).
Tsumeb-based songbird Angel Williams, who goes by the stage name Angel, also provided vocals for the hit.
The song is Smartboy’s first single from his debut album, Perfection.
Smartboy said that fans can expect to view the video, which is scheduled to be released in June, on one of the continent’s most watched music television stations, Trace Africa.
According to the rapper, the video concept was inspired by the song lyrics.
“It’s about a woman waiting for me to show up at home. Instead, she catches me red-handed when I fail to do so. I talk about how I made a promise to her and end up not living up to it.”
The scenes with Smartboy and Angel were shot at a hotel in Swakopmund.
Namzee Brown and Sabrina Brown directed the video, which was produced by a video production company, Fame Pro Vids. Another director, Veikko Silas, also played a crucial role in the making of the video.
The final scenes feature the rapper and Jericho on a beach in Swakopmund.
Smartboy also plans to have the video air on NBC, One Africa as well as YouTube.
The audio version of “No Lie” is available for fans to stream and download on the online music platform, Namibia Music.
The song has already been downloaded over 1 800 times, while music lovers have streamed it over 3 500 times via the website.
