Skoonhede besoek brandslagoffers

Michelle McLean, 'n skoonheidskoningin wat dekades gelede vir Namibië sy enigste Mej. Heelal titel verower het, het onlangs kragte saamgespan met Ciske Howard se taakspan, die Swakopmund-munisipaliteit en die huidige Mej. Namibië, Chelsi Shikongo, om verligting aan die slagoffers van die onlangse brand in Swakopmund se DRC-nedersetting te bring.

Die groep het sop aan die inwoners oorhandig waar hulle tans in tente by die Mondesa-sportgronde gehuisves word. Jacki Detlof-Wismer van Wismer's Ecke het die sop verskaf as deel van Ciske Howard se Covid-taakspan.

Sy het ook 32 kospakkies van vars groente en vrugte, lensies en blikkieskos geskenk aan gesinne wat Covid-positief is.

Dit was 'n gulde geleentheid om aan beide McLean en Shikongo die vordering te wys wat gemaak is by die Tamariskia-stadsaal, wat Howard tans in 'n Covid-fasiliteit omskep.

“Dit lyk soos iets uit 'n film,” het McLean gesê van die fasiliteit wat met 15 beddens spog. Dit is tans nog nie in gebruik nie.

Anna Jonas, die Erongostreek se direkteur van gesondheid, het Woensdag bevestig die direktoraat het Howard se planne goedgekeur, maar gesê die ministerie moet op nasionale vlak ook die groen lig gee voor hierdie droom kan realiseer.

Die Covid-taakspan bestaan uit vrywilligers en die fasiliteit by die Tamariskia-stadsaal asook kosskenkings is alles deur die inwoners van Swakopmund moontlik gemaak.
