Single Covid possitve case recorded in Erongo region

The minister of health Dr Kalumbi Shangula announced 69 new Covid-19 positive cases, 25 recoveries and another Covid-19 death.

He said that 1 133 test results were received from laboratories and that of the new cases, 50 are male and 19 are female, with their ages ranging from one (1) month to 58-years. The confirmed cases are located in Windhoek (30), Oshakati (28), Okahandja (3), Mariental (3), Karasburg (1), Lüderitz (1), Gobabis (2) and Walvis Bay (1).

The minister added that the cases in the capital include learners from different schools, inmates and correctional officers, while all the cases from Oshana are from one correctional facility (26 inmates and two officers).

The minister also announced 25 recoveries – 24 from Khomas and one from the Ohangwena region.

Of the active cases, seven are in a serious or critical condition. In the Erongo region, two are in critical condition, while in the Khomas region, one patient is in a serious condition and four in a critical condition.

Shangula also announced another Covid-19 death involving a man (68) from Windhoek.

“He had multiple comorbidities. He presented to a health facility on 20 September 2020 with symptoms consistent with Covid-19. He was swabbed on the same day and the results returned positive on 21 September 2020. The patient was admitted on the 24 September 2020 in a serious state but his condition continued to deteriorate. He passed away on 12 October 2020.”
