Paulus Shipanga (40) has been appointed as the new head coach of Blue Waters Sports Club on a three-year deal. With this, the former Black Africa head coach returns to his hometown to take charge of the club that birthed his successful football career.
Despite being one of the youngest local coaches in the country, Shipanga already has a league title to his name in his time as Black Africa’s coach.
Former Blue Waters striker Armando Pedro will serve as his assistant.
Club chairman Robert Shimooshili welcomed the new coaches and urged all Omeya supporters to support the duo. “Paulus and Armando are sons of Blue Waters and it is a pleasure to have them leading the team. We believe they have the pedigree to return the team to its former glory. We wish them well.”
Shipanga said he is glad to be back home and looks forward to managing the team. “This appointment is a milestone in my coaching career and I am ready to help the team on a technical and professional level.”
Paulus Shipanga won the 2018/2019 Namibia Football Association (NFA) Namibia Premier League title for Black Africa.
According to Blue Waters’ Tostao Imbili, the experience he gained through his tenure with Black Africa in Windhoek will turn Blue Waters into a force to be reckoned with once the new league campaign starts.
“Paulus Shipanga is a product of Blue Waters. He used to play for us and was also a coach for us before he went to Windhoek. He gained vast knowledge and experience coaching in the capital. Thanks to this and with the assistance of Armando Pedro, Blue Waters will become the team to beat.”
