Edith Stroh; Ice and Spice co-owner; "We have a lot more customers than the day we started here and a lot more flavours as well.”

A warm welcoming smile greets many who visit Ice and Spice Café, situated at Ankerplatz in 11 Sam Nujoma Avenue in Swakopmund..

It is the place which offers the best ice cream in town and draws many tourists and visitors to the coastal town to come back for more scoops.

The family-owned outlet not only has an ice cream take-away but also a coffee shop.

The Strohs took over the business in 2016 and Ice and Spice Café has seen a growth in customers ever since.

“My husband and I took over three years ago from the couple that opened Ice and Spice Café. We are in the business now for three years and we are doing very well. Our customer base has grown since the day we started here. We also added a lot of flavours to the range as well. We produce homemade Italian ice cream manufactured in our kitchen. The best-selling ice cream flavour is chocolate,” said Edith Stroh.

There are 36 different types of flavours offered at Ice and Spice Café.

According to Stroh, Ice and Spice Café still has room for growth and improvement. Ice and Spice Café offers coffee, cake, daily lunch, cocktails and light meals.

“We have a lot of people who come for birthdays. We also make ice cream cakes for the children and for adults who come to celebrate their birthdays here. We specialise in ice cream,”

The café’s feta and spinach tramezzini, a vegetarian meal, is the most liked and enjoyed meal.

Ice and Spice Café is open seven days a week. From Monday to Saturday it is open from 10:00 to 17:30, and on Sundays from 11:30. The coffee shop closes at 14:00 while the ice cream take away closes at 17:00. Free WiFi is also available at Ice and Spice Café.
