Diegene wat die naweek naby die Mole was, sou dalk Namib Hoërskool-leerlinge se kunswerke raakgeloop het.

Die graad 9-, 10- en 11-kunsstudente is gevra om beelde te skep met omgewingsbewustheid as tema. “Hierdie is ’n medium wat hulle nie aan gewoond is nie,” het me. Karin Coetzee, hul kunsonderwyseres gesê.

Die studente moes rommel by hul kunswerk intigreer en dit daarna van die strand verwyder. Daar was onder andere ’n sandbeeld van geldsakke wat oorloop van die rommel – kommentaar op hedendaagse sosiale euwels wat deur ’n graad 10-groep geskep is.

Daar was ook verskeie temas met die see as onderwerp, insluitend mandalas, ’n haai, ’n seekat, ’n seeskilpad, ’n rob en ’n riviernetwerk by die ongewone kunsuitstalling.

Die studente het van 08:00 tot 17:00 tyd gehad om hul kunswerke te voltooi.
