Terwyl dit maar broekskeur gaan met baie kunstenaars, het 21 Namibiese musici saamgespan om ‘n paar ekstra dollar te maak.

Corne van Niekerk is die man agter die Nam Muso ResQ CD met die ondersteuning van sy pa, Derrick, wat die eienaar is van ‘n sekuriteitsmaatskappy.

“Corné is bevriend met baie musikante in die land en hy wou graag vir hulle iets doen in hierdie tyd. Toe nader ons my vriend van 30 jaar, Paul Herbst, en hy het dit toe verder gevat,” sê Derrick.

Herbst, beter bekend as ‘Chicken’, sê dit was nie moeilik om die talent en treffers vir die album saam te stel nie.

“Ons is eintlik maar ‘n groep vriende wat mekaar oor die jare leer ken het. Omdat ons mekaar almal ken, het ons saamgewerk om dit moontlik te maak,” sê hy.

Tephcor het N$53 000 geborg waarmee 2000 kopieë gemaak is.

“Ons verkope lyk goed. Ek het al gehoor dat van die kunstenaars graag nog 1000 kopieë wil laat maak,” sê Van Niekerk.

“Hulle verdien weens Covid nie tans ‘n inkomste deur musiek nie. Vir baie is musiek ‘n voltydse inkomste, so ek dink hulle het begin moed verloor. Ons wou hulle weer aanspoor en moed gee – ek dink dit het nogal gewerk,” sê Van Niekerk.
