’n Groep maatskappye in Swakopmund sal op 1 Augustus kragte saamsnoer met Destination Swakopmund vir die spesiale “United By Light”-geleentheid.

“Die rede vir hierdie projek is om te wys hoe ’n gemeenskap moeilike tye kan deurmaak deur saam te staan,” sê Oliver Ahrens, die woordvoerder vir Destination Swakopmund.

Ahrens sê die United By Light-konsep bied ’n geleentheid om Swakopmund se gemeenskap te versterk en te motiveer. Die dorp word ook bemark deur aandag op die geskiedkundige argitektuur te vestig.

Ses geskiedkundige geboue naamlik die Hohenzollernhaus, die vuurtoring, Swakopmund Hotel, die Lutherse Kerk, Woermann Haus en sy toring asook die Strand Hotel sal die aand van 1 Augustus tussen 20:00 en 21:00 in rooi lig getooi wees.

“Rooi is die kleur van gevaar en S.O.S, en dit is waarin die geleentheidsindustrie hulself tans bevind. Rooi is ook simbolies vir passie en ons wil nie hê die geleentheidsindustrie moet hul kenmerkende passie verloor nie. Dit gaan maar broekskeur en moeilik in die wêreld, daarom wil solidariteit aan hulle wys,” het Ahrens verduidelik.

Jo Nichol, die eienaar van Atlantic Audio sê “die bedryf lyk na niks want daar is niks”.

Nichol vertel dat sy besigheid al sowat ’n geskate N$1 miljoen verloor het weens inperkings.

“Dit sal steeds skaaf en skuur kos wanneer groot byeenkomste weer eendag toegelaat word. Almal weet seker nou al dat alles afgestel is. Al wat nog nie afgestel is nie, is die touchies-toernooi in Hentiesbaai aan die einde van die jaar, maar verder is elke enkele geleentheid gekanselleer.”

Nichol wys daarop dat Julie tot die einde van die jaar gewoonlik die besigste tyd in die bedryf is.

“Ek moet dit egter nou begin oorweeg om salarisse te verminder. Dit is ’n kenmerk van die stryd in die sektor. Natuurlik is ons dankbaar dat mense nou saam met ons staan, maar ons is nie alleen in die swaarkry nie. Meeste besighede suig nou ook aan die agterspeen,” sê hy.

Die geleentheid sal regstreeks op die sosiale media bladsye van Corporate Event Gear, CWell Media Namibia, Connect People to People, Destination Swakopmund, Swakopmund Municipality, Atlantic Villa, Bush Bird Aviation, The Atrium, Nautilus Studios en Printworx uitgesaai word.
