Relationship ends in tragedy

Inspector Illeni Shapumba, the unit commander for community affairs in the Erongo region, confirmed both incidents. According to Shapumba, the murder was committed between Saturday and Sunday, at house no.1185 in Oshikoto Street in Omdel location. “It was reported today to the police in Henties Bay, that Paulina Namalambo (52) did not pitch up for work on Saturday and Sunday. The victim was last seen on Saturday morning (07:00) at home with her boyfriend who is the deceased in the suicide case.”
When the police went to the house and entered, they discovered the lifeless body of the victim covered with a blanked on the bed. She had a gunshot wound to the head. “It is suspected that the victim shot and killed his girlfriend yesterday, hiked back to Walvis Bay and then committed suicide.” Shapumba said that the investigation revealed that the man was allegedly not happy with the fact that his girlfriend was about to end their relationship.
The police are thus also investigating a suspected suicide by shooting incident reported in Walvis Bay. “The body of a male person with a shot wound to the head was found at Independence Beach in Walvis Bay. The deceased was identified as Shaanika Aristofel (40). The victim had his firearm licence in his wallet but the firearm was not found.” Shapumba said that it is suspected that the victim, who was staying alone in his ghetto in Kuisebmond, Walvis Bay, walked into the ocean and committed suicide by shooting himself in the head. “He was last seen on Saturday at around 16:00. There is no foul play suspected at this stage. The victim was an employee at Swakop Uranium mine, while the deceased woman was working at Jongmei Road Construction company in Henties Bay. The next of kin for both deceased persons have been informed.”
