Refugee charged for dealing in drugs

Toleda Fariala (21) appeared in the Swakopmund magistrate’s court on charges of dealing in cocaine powder and cannabis.
Magistrate Nelao Brown postponed the matter to 30 July for further investigation.
Prosecutor Cleopatra Boois represented the state.
According to NamPol crime investigations coordinator for the Erongo region, deputy commissioner Erastus Iikuyu, the suspect is a Congolese national from the Osire Refugee Camp. She was arrested in Swakopmund at Mondesa Shell Service Station during a police operation on Monday.
Fariala was allegedly arrested with narcotics valued at an estimated N$188 500. “The cannabis allegedly found in her possession weighed 2.72kg and has a value of N$136 000. Cocaine powder weighing 105g with an estimated value of N$52 500, was also allegedly discovered on the suspect,” said Iikuyu.
In another drug-related bust, a 21-year old man was found in possession of 67g of cannabis valued at around N$3 350 during a police operation in the Tulinawa township on Tuesday. Iikuyu said that N$1 000 in cash that was also found on the suspect, was confiscated.
The accused was scheduled to make his first appearance at the Swakopmund magistrate’s court on Wednesday. However, court officials confirmed that he did not appear.
