Rally action at the coast

08 October 2021 | Sports

Adrenaline-pumping action is expected during the National Petroleum Corporation of Namibia (NAMCOR) Swakop Rally taking place today (Saturday).

The event consists of eight stages, starting at the NAMCOR Service Station on the Henties Bay Road.

The organisers have cautioned spectators to maintain a safe distance from the speedy action and to cooperate with the event marshals.

“The Namibia Motorsport Federation asks that rally fans do not to drink and drive whilst attending this event – we value the lives of our road users. Also, take caution when parking next to the main road to Windhoek and do not make a U-turn on the main road. This is very dangerous and could result in an accident,” emphasised Geraldine Naude of the Walvis Bay Motor Club.

She also called on spectators to use designated parking areas and spectator points as far as possible along the main road.

Coastal favourite, Allan Martin will be hoping to be victorious in his green and white Skoda.

The rally finishes at the parking area of the Go Kart Track and the prize giving will be held at the Go Kart facility directly after the final results are available.
