“Reynard Steynberg; Board Chairperson; “We held the first mini dash in 2020 where we had over a hundred participants and everybody who participated agreed that we make it a yearly event.”

A mini dash is scheduled to take place on 30 October in Henties Bay. This is a fundraising event for Christelike Privaatskool Hentiesbay (CPS) which is a small primary school catering for 55 children.

The school board came up with the idea to host a mini dash event in 2020 as the entire town suffered due to the Covid Pandemic. Everybody was looking for some fun during all the lockdowns.
The Chairperson of the Board Reynard Steynberg said that this is the second time that the mini dash is taking place. “We held the first mini dash in 2020 where we had over a hundred participants and everybody who participated agreed that we make it a yearly event,” he says. He added that this year’s response to register for the event is a bit slow. “We believe it is because of all the other cycling events that are taking place.”

Children from as young as grade RR and even grandparents took part in the 5 km Fun-Run. Last year people over the age of sixty years also took part in the 30 km cycling race. There are two cycling races of 30 and 70 km, two Ironman competitions 30km cycling and 5km running and 70km cycling and 5km running. There is also a 5km fun-run event. Those who are interested to participate can register by sending a mail to [email protected] A registration form will then be mailed back. They may also call Ms Odendaal at 081 258 4739 who will assist them.

Entry fees and Safety Measures

Arrangements have been made with Lifelink (is a Namibian owned and operated private emergency and International medical assistance service) who will be on standby. The Henties Bay city traffic will also safeguard the streets where running will take place.

The entry fees are as follows for the different categories:
Mini iron man (mountain bike 30 km & 5 km run) - N$200
Iron man (60 km & 5 km run) - N$200
Mountain bike 30km - N$150
Mountain bike 60 km - N$150
5km fun walk/run/ride (kiddies bikes) - N$50
