One dead, three injured in B2 accident

A 31-year-old man died and three others sustained injuries in an accident that occurred on the B2 highway 10km from Usakos on Monday afternoon.
Erongo NamPol spokesperson inspector Ileni Shapumba confirmed the accident involving a silver VW Polo and a white Mazda government registered vehicle.
“It is alleged that a silver sedan with three occupants was travelling from Usakos to Arandis. The driver tried to overtake a truck and collided head on with an oncoming a vehicle belonging to the Ministry of Agriculture, Water, Forestry and Land Reform. The government vehicle had two occupants,” he said.
The police have opened a case which includes one count of culpable homicide and another of reckless and negligent driving.
The driver of the Polo, a 31-year-old-man identified as Israel Nghishekwa Twamoneni, died on the scene while one of his passengers (25-year-old woman) sustained minor injuries.
The occupants on the government vehicle were a 51-year-old man, who was the driver, and a 35-year-old man (passenger).
“The driver sustained minor injuries while the passenger’s injuries were of a serious nature. The injured persons were taken to Usakos State Hospital for medical treatment. The deceased's body was taken to Usakos State Hospital mortuary for certification of death and further handling,” Shapumba said.
