Onderwys is die ruggraat van die samelewing

Die tema van Saterdag se maatskaplike verantwoordelikheidsdag aangebied deur Welwitschia Music Production (WMP) was “Wees jouself vir Namibië”.

Hande is uitgereik by die Thomas Hamunyela-amfiteater in Swakopmund.

Volgens een van die organiseerders, Stella Naruses, was die doelwit om die jeug kans te gee om hul natuurlike talente ten toon te stel. WMP wil kinders motiveer om die kunste as loopbaan te oorweeg omdat nie almal akademies aangelê is nie en akademiese geleenthede beperk is.

“Ons wil ons eie akteurs, komediante en digters hê. Ons wil ons eie produkte hê en die beste manier om te begin, is deur die oorspronklikheid van die land aan die jeug bekend te stel, sodat mense in ander lande ook die uniekheid van Namibië kan raaksien,” verduidelik Naruses.

Die geleentheid is in samewerking met die junior stadsraad van die dorp aangebied.

WMP het terselfdertyd jarelange ondersteunders bedank en ouers gehelp wat sukkel om skryfbehoeftes vir hul kinders aan te skaf.

Die junior burgemeester van Swakopmund, Sinoritha Geises, het in ‘n toespraak gesê onderwys is 'n maatskaplike verantwoordelikheid. Persoonlike en gedeelde ervarings help vorm volgens haar leerlinge se identiteit.

“Onderwys verskaf aan ons kennis oor die wêreld om ons en help ons ook om dit in iets beter te verander. Dit is 'n fundamentele stap in die ontwikkeling van 'n positiewe en pro-aktiewe gemeenskap. Deur ons ervarings en opvoeding met die regte ingesteldheid te kombineer, kan ons ons land tot groter hoogtes dryf,” het Geises aangevoer.

Leerlinge het teen mekaar meegeding as digters, dansers en sangers. Hulle moes ook suksesvolle Namibiese kunstenaars in die kategorieë naboots.

Pryse het skryfbehoeftes ter waarde van N$5 000 ingesluit. Toekennings is ook gedoen aan leerlinge wat akademies goed vaar, maar wie se ouers nie skryfbehoeftes kan bekostig nie. Hierdie wenners is deur onderwysers by verskillende skole gekies.

Die musikant Genesa Handrick, wat in Duitsland woon, Stella, reggae-kunstenaar Gerry Dread, gospelsanger Rodney Seibeb, die plaaslike akteur en komediant OC Ebs en ander het die skare vermaak.
