Old Mutual Namibia re-launched its Swakopmund branch on Thursday.
“This event signals an important milestone in the long history of Old Mutual Namibia,” said the company’s retail market executive Lionel Kannemeyer.
The Swakopmund branch is now located in the Pandion II building in the main street.
“When I started at Old Mutual in 2016, I knew we had a branch in Swakopmund, but I could not find it. We can’t have a Swakopmund branch that isn’t in Swakopmund,” said Old Mutual’s executive for marketing, communication and customer strategy, Ndangi Katoma.
Kannemeyer added that the re-launch of the Swakopmund branch stems from a deep commitment and sense of business responsibility to continue providing financial services and product offerings closer to existing and potential new customers.
He hailed the new branch as a remarkable millstone for the company.
“We had a particularly tough first six months of the year due to an increase in Covid-19 deaths. Old Mutual recorded an excess of death claims of around four times the number of deaths in June and that increased between 5 and 9 times in July alone,” he said.
However, Kannemeyer emphasised Old Mutual’s commitment to the nation despite tough times.
“We believe in solutions, one of which is the vaccine. We showed our support to the ministry of health with a N$1 million contribution towards the procurement and delivery of 250 000 doses of the Sinopharm vaccine which arrived in June 2021.”
