Nuwe hotel vir Walvisbaai

Die hawedorp spog met ’n splinternuwe hotel wat binne ses maande opgerig is.

Die City Centre Hotel wat in die hartjie van Walvisbaai se middedorp geleë is, het onlangs sy deure amptelik geopen.

Plaaslike gemeenskapsleiers, verskaffers en sakelui was tydens dié geleentheid onder die gaste.

Die hotel met sy 14 werkers en onder die bestuur van Summer Goa, bestaan uit drie verdiepings met 16 kamers en is binne ses maande gebou teen ’n beraamde koste van sowat N$15 miljoen. Dit is op die hoek van Sam Nujoma-rylaan en 15de Straat geleë.

Die trotse eienaar, Joshua Zhang, sê dit was nog altyd sy droom om ’n hotel in Walvisbaai te besit.

“Ek en my gesin woon al die afgelope twintig jaar hier, so dit is my tuiste. Baie Chinese besoek Walvisbaai en Namibië as toeriste, en ek meen dit is van pas om ’n plek te skep wat ’n tuiste is vir besoekers sowel as plaaslike inwoners.”

Zhang het sy dank uitgespreek aan die plaaslike owerhede wat hom ondersteun het en almal wat by die oprigting van die hotel betrokke was.

Die ontvangsarea sowel as ’n restaurant, wat uitgekontrakteer is aan Chez Cui, beslaan die grondvloer. Chez Cui bedien beide Westerse kos sowel as tradisionele Chinese disse.

Op die tweede en derde verdiepings is daar 16 enkel-, dubbel- en gesinskamers, asook ’n luukse suite.

Middag- en aandete is beskikbaar by die restaurant, wat om 22:00 sluit.

Zhang bedryf ook ’n invoer- en uitvoeronderneming en sê hy wil Walvisbaai as voorkeurhawe bevorder. Hy meen Walvisbaai het baie om te bied en is vinnig besig om in ’n volwaardige stad te ontwikkel.

Die kontrakteurs wat die Dunes Mall gebou het, was ook in beheer van die City Centre Hotel se oprigting.

“Die gebou is deur ’n Namibiese argitek ontwerp en Namibiërs was verantwoordelik vir alle grondwerke,” het Zhang gesê.

Zhang sê met sy nuwe hotel wil hy graag meer doen wat maatskaplike verantwoordelikheid teenoor die gemeenskap betref. Dus het hy ’n skenking aan Droogtehulp Namibië gemaak en hy beplan om meer vir inwoners van die omgewing te doen.
