Noodreddingstasie vir Omaruru

Die dorpsraad van Omaruru beskik nou oor 'n noodreddingstasie ná dit 'n brandweerwa ter waarde van ongeveer N$3,5 miljoen ontvang het.

Die uitvoerende hoof, mnr. Alfons Tjitombo, het in 'n voorlegging oor die implementering van kapitaalprojekte in lyn met die strategiese plan van die dorp vir 2018-'22, gesê die oprigting van die noodreddingstasie het 'n dubbele doel.

“Eerstens is dit 'n vinnige noodreaksie-eenheid wat toegerus is met die 'Jaws of Life' en kan dit ook reddingsoperasies binne 'n radius van 60 km lewer. Tweedens verseker die stasie dat toerusting nie aan die elemente blootgestel word nie.”

Tjitombo kon egter teen druktyd nie lig werp op die uiteindelike konstruksiekoste, wanneer die bouproses begin of afgehandel is, of aan wie die tender toegeken is nie.



Vrae onbeantwoord

Hy kon ook nie 'n aanduiding gee oor hoeveel plaaslike inwoners by die konstruksieproses gebaat het of die aantal mense wat by die noodreddingstasie in diens geneem sal word nie.

“Ek is nie in staat om antwoorde op enige van dié vrae te gee nie weens ander ernstige werkverpligtinge,” het hy per e-pos laat weet.

'n Besoek aan Tjitombo het ook geen antwoorde opgelewer op 'n stel vrae wat twee weke vantevore oor die aangeleent­heid per e-pos aan hom gestuur is nie.

“Ek het 'n maand nodig om inligting te versamel en sal dan eers antwoorde kan gee,” het die uitvoerende hoof gesê.
