No new Covid cases in Erongo

The executive director of the health ministry Ben Nangombe announced 62 new Covid cases, 29 recoveries and another Covid-19 related death.

Of the new cases, 33 are male and 29 are female, with the youngest patient aged seven months and the oldest 77-years-old.
Nangombe said that 898 results were received from the laboratories.

The confirmed cases are distributed in Windhoek (33), Onandjokwe (14), Outjo (5), Otjiwarongo (3), Okahandja (2), Rehoboth (3), Karasburg (1) and Katima Mulilo (1).

According to Nangombe, among the cases reported from Outjo, one is a tourist who arrived in the country on 2 October 2020 with a valid negative Covid-19 result which was carried out on 30 September 2020.

“He proceeded to his destination and was swabbed on day 5. The test result returned positive. The patient is currently being managed according to our protocols.”

Namibia also recorded 29 new recoveries from Khomas (24), Hardap (2), //Kharas (2) and Zambezi (1).

Five of the active cases are in critical condition; two from Erongo and three from the Khomas region.

One Covid-19 death was recorded in Windhoek involving a female (76), known to have multiple comorbidities. She presented to a health facility on 15 June 2020 and was admitted for a surgical operation. She was swabbed and her test results returned positive for Covid-19. The patient’s condition deteriorated and she passed away on the 5 October 2020.
