No Covid-19 deaths reported today

The minister said of these, 70 samples tested positive for Covid-19, with 40 patients being males and 30 females. The ages of the patients range from 1 to 58-years and contact tracing has been initiated.
According to the minster, the implementation of the new de-isolation protocol will result in a radical increase in the number of recoveries. Sixteen new recoveries (Cases 245, 358, 394, 456, 459, 492, 515, 541 and 550 from Walvis Bay and Cases 27, 50, 55, 277, 824, 1076 from Windhoek with 1 case being verified) were recorded and these patients have been discharged.
Of the cases announced today, 43 are from Walvis Bay, 12 from Swakopmund, 13 from Windhoek and 1 each from Engela and Lüderitz.
The minister said that of the 13 cases reported in Windhoek, 9 are female and four male with their ages ranging from 22 to 58- years.
“Five are healthcare workers, two are architects and nine are contacts to confirmed cases. Three of the contacts presented symptoms consistent with Covid-19 at the time of testing. Among the contacts, only two were in quarantine.”
According to the minister. four cases reported that they were not in contact with confirmed cases.
“Two were tested because they presented with symptoms consistent with Covid-19, while two were tested as a precautionary measure prior to surgical procedures, although one has exhibited Covid-19 related symptoms at the time swabbing.”
The case reported at Engela involves a 4-year old girl who travelled from Walvis Bay on 24 July 2020, with four other children from the same household.
“They were all quarantined and swabbed on the 27 July 2020. She does not have Covid-19 related symptoms,” said the minister.
The case reported from Lüderitz involves a male (51).
“He is a truck driver from Walvis Bay, who went to deliver a load in Lüderitz on 27 July 2020. He was swabbed on the same day, before he returned to Walvis Bay. The //Kharas regional team has communicated the relevant information to the Erongo team,” said the minister.
