New fishing right holders to be inducted

The ministry of fisheries and marine resources will conduct an induction session of new right holders to the fishing industry in Walvis Bay.
Personal assistant to the minster, Leevy Lee Abrahams, confirmed that the event takes place on Wednesday, 22 September 2021 at the town’s municipal hall.
According to the programme, activities will commence with the registration process at 08:15.
The governor of the Erongo region, Neville Andre, is scheduled to do the welcoming remarks. This will be followed by introductory remarks and an overview by the executive director of the ministry Annely Haiphene, who will also be the moderator for the event.
Thereafter minister Derek Klassen will present his statement.
The first session focuses on the Policy and Legal Framework (Conditions of Rights and Quotas) and Fees and Levies. The issue of Joint Ventures will be addressed by Toivo Uahengo during the second session, and will be concluded with a discussion on the completion of quota and license applications by Sam Iilungu.
The minister is expected to officially close the event.
