New Covid cases decreasing

Health minister Kalumbi Shangula announced that 1 223 Covid-19 test results were received from the laboratories, of which 54 samples tested positive for Covid-19 (29 male and 25 female).

The youngest patient is two months old and the oldest 69.

The confirmed cases are distributed as follows: Khomas (34), Otjozondjupa (8), Hardap (3), Oshana (2), //Kharas, (2), Kavango East (2), Erongo (1), Oshikoto (1) and Ohangwena (1).

The minister said that the number of new cases is consistently decreasing.

“[However], we should interpret this with caution as it is too early to make a conclusive statement. But we can remain optimistic that there may be light at the end of the tunnel. For us not to lose the gains we have made, we should remain motivated to keep complying with public health measures as responsible citizens. We applaud each and every one who contributes to this change of situation.”

Shangula reported ten new recoveries: Five from Hardap, two from Omusati, two from Zambezi and 1 from Omaheke. This brings the total recoveries to 9 429.

The total number of active cases now stands at 2 074, eight of which are in serious to critical condition. Seven of these are from the Khomas region and one is from the Erongo region.
