Music at the forefront

Rainer von Hatten; Co-founder, Nautilus Studios; “The emphasis is not the resulting musical pieces, but rather the process and experience of getting there.”
The All Ears event will be hosted by Nautilus Studios in partnership with Corporate Event Gear from 23 to 27 November.
The event consists of a workshop as well as an online exhibition project and aims to provide a platform for Swakopmund-based musicians and related industry professionals to share the knowledge and experience.
These industry professionals include performing artists, event support crew and music producers who get the experience in a real-world studio environment, while offering the Namibian public rare access to the music making process through live streaming the event online at the same time.
Nautilus is one of Namibia’s top recording studios and offers world-class equipment and a soundproof booth.
This is where a five-day rehearsal and recording session with a core group of selected musicians will take place.
According to the co-founder of Nautilus Studios, Rainer von Hatten, each of the five days in the studio will be streamed live on their YouTube channel.
“Participants will work through all the steps necessary to write, arrange, rehearse and eventually record a high-quality piece of music. The emphasis is not the resulting music pieces, but rather the process and experience of getting there,” Von Hatten said.
Viewers can tune in anytime between 14:00 and 22:00 to watch jam sessions, one-on-one interviews with the artists and crew, recording and production workshops, discussions about music in general, sharing expertise as well as the telling of anecdotal stories of real-world experiences.
The project was made possible with the generous support of the National Arts Council of Namibia that funded Nautilus Studios with a grant as part of the Covid-19 Relief Fund earlier this year.
