Namport targeted by scammers

27 April 2021 | Infrastructure

The Namibian Ports Authority (Namport) has cautioned suppliers, clients, stakeholders and the public about a scam which involve certain individuals soliciting quotations from suppliers using forged names and designations, email signatures and email domains that mimic those of the port authority.

“The public are urged to familiarize themselves with the correctness of Namport's official domain address which reads @namport.com.na. Any other variations are considered phishing domains and are unsafe and unsecure,” warned Elias Mwenyo, acting executive for commercial services.

He advised suppliers, clients, stakeholders and the public to consult the Namport website (https://www.namport.com.na/procurement/) and to register on its portal (https://www.namport.com.na/registration-portal/) or to contact the Procurement Management Unit at Namport (064 208 2319) for all procurement related information.

Mwenyo also urged members of the public to report any possible fraudulent activities involving Namport immediately at the above listed number.
