’n Geseënde vakansie vir almal

Hierdie was inderdaad ’n onvergeetlike jaar en ons is alle dank aan die Almagtige verskuldig dat ons deurgedra is, sê die burgemeester van Swakopmund, Paulina Nshilundo.

“Aan die begin van elke jaar het meeste mense ’n lys van wat hulle wil bereik en gedurende die jaar werk ons almal hard om dié doelwitte te verwesenlik. Ek hoop dat u minstes één van u doelwitte bereik het. As u niks bereik het nie, het u nog tyd. Onthou dat ons die meesters van ons eie lot is en daarom moet ons daartoe verbind wees om onsself te verbeter en te ontwikkel.

Die dorpsraad werk baie hard om ’n ekonomies-, sosiaal- en omgewingsvriendelike toerismesektor te verseker wat die lewensgehalte van alle inwoners van Swakopmund verbeter.

Swakopmund het die gewildste vakansiebestemming geword met die toestroming van besoekers wat belangrike voordele inhou - veral vir die toerismebedryf.

Ons moet in gedagte hou dat daar egter ook risiko’s verbonde is aan veiligheidsaspekte vir enige besige stad. Ons sal dus weer eens staatmaak op die polisie sowel as die gemeenskapspolisieforum om wet en orde te handhaaf. Hulle moet ook verseker dat ons besoekers en inwoners veilig is gedurende die feesseisoen.

Verkeersveiligheid bly ’n gebedspunt. Ek bid vir die beskerming van almal, aangesien die paaie gewoonlik rondom hierdie tyd baie besig is. Dit is ewe noodsaaklik dat bestuurders alle regulasies nakom en waaksaam is op die pad.

Die feestyd is ’n tyd vir groot vreugde terwyl ons die geboorte van Jesus herdenk. Dit is ’n tyd wanneer daar van ons verwag word om gehalte tyd saam met ons familie, vriende en geliefdes deur te bring. Dit kan ook ’n tyd wees vir genesing en die skep van hernude krag en moet dus as ’n heilige tyd beskou word. Laat ons daarom deur ons vieringe ’n seën vir ander wees en liefde uitdra.

Namens inwoners van Swakopmund bedank ek alle besoekers wat ons dorp as ’n voorkeur-vakansiebestemming kies. Ons moedig besoekers en vakansiegangers aan om deel te neem aan die lekker aktiwiteite wat die stad aanbied en wens vir julle ’n rustige en aangename verblyf in Swakopmund toe.

Tydens hierdie feestyd word daar verskeie feestelikhede beplan en ons nooi inwoners en besoekers om deel te neem aan ons jaarlikse Kersliedere opvoering.

Boonop vier ons die Kwêla Dorp van die Jaar-toekenning en nooi almal hartlik uit om saam te vier.”
