MR24/7 Welwitschia still searching for elusive win

Log leaders Wanderers I maintained their unbeaten form with a 9-wicket victory over MR24/7 Welwitschia in a Premier League 50 overs match played at the Walvis Bay Private High School grounds today.

The Windhoek based side leads the pack with 12 points after three matches played. The second placed Windhoek High School Old Boys Cricket Club (WHSOBCC) I defeated Trustco United I with 6 wickets in a match played at the Windhoek High School grounds. WHSOBCC have 8 points (2 wins and 1 loss) after three matches played. CCD follows in third position with 4 points (1 win and 1 loss) having played two matches. Trustco United I and MR24/7 Welwitschia are both without any wins after having played two games each.

MR24/7 Welwitschia vs Wanderers

MR24/7 Welwitschia won the toss, elected to bat first and scored 131 runs for the loss of 10 wickets in 40.1 overs. Wanderers scored 132 runs for the loss of 1 wicket in 15.4 overs.

Fritz Coetzee was the top performing batsman for MR24/7 Welwitschia. He scored 25 runs (including one 4 and one 6) from 46 balls. Herman van Zyl also added 24 runs (including three 6’s) from 13 balls. JC Balt (for 9 runs in 5 overs) and Steven Delport (for 25 runs in 5.1 overs) each took 2 wickets for Wanderers.

Nico Davin was in commanding form with the bat. He smashed 106 runs (including nine 4’s and eight 6’s) from 54 balls. The performance earned him the man of the match reward. Nyasha Nyasha was the best bowler for MR24/7 Welwitschia with 1 wicket for 16 runs in 4.4 overs.

Trustco United vs WHSOBCC

Trustco United won the toss, elected to bat first and scored 62 runs for the loss of 10 wickets in 22 overs. WHSOBCC scored 65 runs for the loss of 4 wickets o 12.5 overs.

Dickson Vambe was the top run scorer for Trusco United. He scored 12 runs from 16 (including two 4’s) deliveries. Bowler Zhivago Groenewald was in top form for WHSOBCC. He claimed 4 wickets for 21 runs in 10 overs (including 1 maiden).
JP Kotze was the best batsman for WHSOBCC. He scored 29 runs (including six 4’s) form 25 balls. Donovan Zealand also added 21 runs (including three 4’s) from 29 balls. Lohandre Louwrens (for 26 runs in 5 overs) and Dickson Vambe (for 15 runs in 5 overs), each took two wickets for Trustco United.
