A case of housebreaking with the intent to rob, and robbery with aggravating circumstances was reported to the Erongo police.

According to the regional crime investigations coordinator in Erongo, deputy commissioner Erastus Iikuyu, the incident happened in the early hours on Friday at the Mondesa Shell Service Station.

“It is alleged that two unknown male suspects, black in complexion and armed with a toy AK 47 rifle arrived at the service station. They smashed the shop's entrance (glass) door and entered while two employees and a hiker were inside.”

Iikuyu said the suspects took the cash register containing N$4 411.85 in cash along with three cell phones belonging to the victims and fled from the scene.

The total value of stolen items is approximately N$13 000.

The toy rifle used by the robbers was found a few metres from the shop.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or has information that may assist the police in apprehending the suspects, is asked to contact Iikuyu on 081 246 4757, detective chief inspector John Mwatongwe on 081 246 1121, detective warrant officer Gottfried Paulus on 081 275 5424, or the nearest police station.
