According to the unit commander for community affairs in the Erongo region, Inspector Ileni Shapumba, George Tjarokua (40) an employee of a local mine and a resident of Swakopmund has been missing since Wednesday (13 October).
“Tjarokua allegedly spoke to his wife via telephone on Wednesday at 07:14 last. He informed her that he intended to travel to farm Tsoro Tsaub, near Okombahe to take animal feeds and would return the same day,” said Shapumba.
The missing person’s wife however received a call from her husband’s workplace informing her that he did not report for duty and that his phone is off, on Thursday (14 October). She also tried to contact him and made other efforts to trace him but to no avail. Tjarokua drives a white Toyota Rev 4 with the registration number: N 7774 S.
Shapumba said that the matter was reported to the police at Mondesa today (17 October) and a search has since been initiated. “We contacted his friends and people close to him as well as the hospitals in Swakopmund, Usakos and Omaruru without any success.”
