Lugballon gaan unieke uitsig bied

Destination Swakopmund is tans hard aan die werk om Swakopmund in ‘n alles-in-een-toerismebestemming te omskep.

Vanuit die inisiatief spruit reeds verskeie toerismetrekpleisters en -aktiwiteite.

Een so ‘n aktiwiteit is ‘n rit in ‘n heliumballon in plaas van die tradisionele warmlugballon.

Swakopmund Adventure Park beplan om hul eerste heliumballonritte in April 2020 aan te bied.

Dit gaan volg na ‘n opgraderingsproses van ongeveer vier maande by die park. ‘n Minigholfbaan is ook ‘n ander nuutjie.

Fritz Sachse en Pieter van Ginkel staan aan die spits van die onderneming.

“Pieter werk al vir 20 jaar om ‘n avontuursentrum te begin wat ‘n verskil maak,” sê Sachse.

Die geankerde heliumballon kan ‘n hoogte van 120 meter bereik en ritte sal tussen 30 en 60 minute duur. Vanuit die ballon sal mense nie net die duine en see kan bespied nie, maar selfs die Brandberg, Spitzkoppe en Hentiesbaai sal sigbaar wees.

Sulke ritte word reeds in Boston in die VSA, Singapoer en Sandton in Suid-Afrika aangebied. Heliumballone word ook gebruik vir reklame.

“Dit gaan beslis ‘n nuwe en innoverende toerisme-ontwikkeling vir Swakopmund wees,” sê Sachse.
