Ryan Gordon; Councillor; “It’s all about making a difference…”
Ryan Gordon will be replacing the late Stanley Bikeur as a representative of the Landless People’s Movement (LPM) on the Walvis Bay municipal council.
Bikeur passed away due to Covid-19 in August and his position has been vacant since.
In a letter addressed to the Walvis Bay municipality, the LPM stated that Gordon is to be sworn in as a councillor with immediate effect.
Gordon has been actively involved in the community. He is one of the founders of the Narraville Community against Crime group and was recently elected as a member of the Narraville Committee.
Gordon is known as a passionate community activist. He has voiced concerns about water cut offs in Narraville and assisted residents currently living in the Narraville clubhouse.
Gordon stated that he did not expect to be chosen as councillor.
“It came as a surprise. I’m grateful to the Lord for this opportunity. I did not ask for it. The bottom line for me is that if I can make a difference, why not? It’s all about making a difference, not for me, an individual or the party, but for the community as a whole.”
He said that there is much more to being a councillor than receiving a salary or occupying a position.
“I believe no one should go to bed hungry or not have a roof over their head. These are just some of the things I want to advocate for or lend a helping hand to.”
