The SFC Swakop Karters held their Club Championship at the Swakop Go-karters track on Saturday, attracting drivers from various age groups and classes in a quest to attain pole position.

The participating classes were masters, senior max, junior max, maxterino and bambino.

According to event organiser Jörg Goldbeck, the championship was a relative success.

“For the whole year we only had one race, which was in February 2020, so it was good to get the wheels rolling again.”

In the masters’ class, which is the main category, Martin Kruger emerged victorious after accumulating 47 points in total. He was followed by Jörg Goldbeck (45 points) and Quinton Liebenberg (12 points), who finished second and third respectively.

The rest of the results are as follows:

Bambino Class: Sebastian van Niekerk (28 points)
Maxterino Class: Heinrich Roos (28 points)
Junior Max Class: Justus Beulker (50 points), Marno Kruger (24 points) and Wouter Smith (16 points).
Senior Max Class: Ivan Vorster (53 points), Gerhard Breed (33 points) and Corne Steyn (12 points).
Last weekend’s event was the second race of the year as Covid-19 and its precautionary regulations halted all sporting activities. Thirteen racers took part in total.
