Drie skoonheidskoninginne is Vrydagaand in Walvisbaai gekroon. Hulle is Cline-Lee Kusch (Little Miss Walvis Bay), Drew-Ann Engelbrecht (Little Miss Walvis Bay Petite) en Roché Thomas (Little Miss Walvis Bay Teen).

Voormalige Mrs Universal Estrolita Petersen het vir die eerste keer die skoonheidskompetisie aangebied, met 13 meisies wat deelgeneem het aan die geleentheid wat by die Blue Whale Boutique Hotel gehou is.

Die deelnemers het die loopplank betree in temadrag as Moana of “eilandmeisie”, gemaklike drag en aanddrag.

Petersen het verduidelik dat sy vir die meisies wou leer dat ’n skoonheidskompetisie meer is as om net jou mooi gesiggie te wys.

Met hul eerste projek in November het die jong dames die kinderafdeling in die Walvisbaai staatshospitaal besoek waar hulle boeke, speelgoed en lekkergoed aan die klein pasiëne oorhandig het.

Daarna het ’n Ma- en Dogterdag plaasgevind, waar die deelnemers en hul ma's saam gekuier het.

Die meisies het Dinsdag voor die kompetisie die Ruach Elohim-stigting in Swakopmund besoek. Die stigting is ’n plek van veiligheid vir ongewenste en kwesbare baba’s wat deur Ronel en Dick Peters gestig is. Hier het hulle geskenkpakkies met babaklere, babakos en speelgoed oorhandig.

“Ek wou hê die meisies moet vriende maak, die kompetisie geniet en hulle gelyktydig leer dat daar meer aan ’n skoonheidskoningin is.”

Die beoordelaars vir die aand was Shaunelle Britz, Malvin Somaeb en Chandré Manuel Maletzky.
